The sound and music are 50% of the entertainment in a movie.” |
Growing up in Southeastern Michigan, my experiences revolved heavily around music, and STEM related studies. I originally intended to go to school for Chemistry, which turned into Music, which turned into Film and Video. My passion for Film and Video derived from my passion to learn more about editing, sound design, and film scoring.
I then realized the value of my own experiences when applied to Film. Coming from a music heavy background, I was able to provide useful feedback to classmates regarding music selection. This led me to take an Independent Study where I studied the art, history, and purpose of Music in Film, to gain a better understanding of this subject area. As year after year went by, I started questioning my end result, where did I want to go? Where did I want to end up? That's when I realized that long-form content like short films and independent films weren't quite for me. I saw the power in what short-form content could do, everything from a simple twitter post, to TikTok series' spanning months, or a simple photo gallery. My passion derived from my knowledge of cinematic storytelling, and I realized that I could transfer these basic skills to all forms of media, and help others promote a brand image through subtle tricks learned in the Film program. |
